Don't expect anything great, tho. This was mostly toying in the DAW with random riffs, arpeggios and stuff. And of course it's all 100% MIDI and done in an ancient computer, so don't expect great-sounding instruments and super professional productions.
Musically all tracks are pretty diverse but mostly relying in (very synth) metal as base and full of experimentation. Not suitable for trve metalheads, sorry! If weirdness is your thing, however... maybe you may find something to enjoy here.
Basically this is that kind of music you'd expect to find in a random MySpace or Soundclick profile in the 2000s. That kind of thing you'd get 128k MP3 downloads in a static HTML site. That kind of stuff that would normally be done by some passionate young person who just discovered they can do cool stuff to share online in a cyberworld full of people willing to discover and listen more random, creepy stuff like this.
This is pure essence of amateurness. Done with no brain but full of heart and passion.
This is the result of total, uncontrolled chaos. A true piece of (pseudo)art.
Welcome to the Unknown Lands!
All tracks composed, recorded, mixed, etc by Unknown Pseudoartist at Ancient Computer Studios (Unknown Lands) in March 2024.
All made by a real human (or maybe a real bird?). No AI or anything remotely close was used.
Special thanks to Kira (the cat) for protagonizing the cover artwork!
You can download the full album for free in Bandcamp and Internet Archive.
Style / influences: heavy / power metal
The first track from my first original album/demo. The one you'd normally put as a commercial single. It has the melodies, the grooves and all the good stuff.
Harp as leads in metal isn't the most common, but who cares?
Style / influences: classic hard rock
Just a basic attempt into classic hard rock. A simple riff inspired by Black Sabbath's Paranoid following you for most of the tune and some stuff happening.
The title is a double pun with typical cops moral and the sweet sound of a cat (prrr!). Who would care to combine such opposite things like that?
Style / influences: chiptune funk/electro/metal/whatever
This was initially meant to be a funky tune. In fact, the original intended title was "funky shirt".
However, while working on it we went to a different, chiptune-ish direction. Since we were there, why not moving further?
So that's how this track became perhaps the craziest and most frantic one in the album/demo.
Title is an acronym for GBA, since it has that kind of crusty sample sound and style. And yeah, the game you seen in the screen was real sometime.
Style / influences: speed/thrash metal
Just a basic attempt of a speed metal song. Maybe with some technical flavour that came rather involuntarily.
Style / influences: electronic / dance
Now it's time to dance with this weird electronic thing!
The inspiration came when someone (who prefers to stay anonymous and uncredited) shared a recording of the noises their router was doing. That sounded a lot like a hardcore uptempo song or whatever. So why not trying something with it?
Style / influences: black metal
What is an UPA's album without some extreme metal oriented track? Probably not extreme enough, tho, since there's a bunch of melodic and virtuosistic pseudo-solos all around.
The title is a joke with a generic, pseudo-satanic title like "Sons of Satan". Seitan is a meal made of wheat gluten and other things. It's tasty and commonly atrributed to vegan cousine but suitable and recomended for everyone, actually.
Style / influences: ambient / new age
It's the time to end this madness! And so here we go with a rather chill and atmospheric outro.
Some elements from the first track are reused here, so basically this is like the chill, minimalistic version of track 1.
...And that's all, folks! Hope you liked :)
